Severance

You make known to me the path of life;

you will fill me with joy in your presence,

with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 16:11

The path of Joy isn’t straight. It isn’t

narrow.

It’s riddled with pot holes-

Cracks

in the very foundation.

It doesn’t seem to have a clear destination-

except death.

Certain uncertainty.

Love becomes destruction.

Your divine presence-

Absent.

Eternal pleasure limited to surrender

in a world among men.

Your reflection in my identity-

If I’m at your right hand,

why am I

so alone?

Afraid?

Left behind.

Standing on a crater-laden road-

A hitch hiker, thumb extended, on a desolate stretch.

Waiting

on a

Savior.
